Story: My Best Friend’s Wedding

A lot of incidents happen in our everyday life, but how many do we keep in our mind? Life is so short that we can not describe it in well, in this transient life, we occur intransient memorable episode which can be a turning point in one’s life. Such kind of happening happened in my own life which I did not forget, I do not forget, and I will not forget forever. This chapter that I would like to expose today is ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ which so far I kept in my mind’s depth. Emperor Shahjahan built up Tajmahal, Laily-Majnu, Shiri-Farhad became immortal, but why had they become immortal? They became eternal only for love. So, love is something which we can not avoid, we can not overlook. In the background of my best friend’s wedding has love.

This wedding ceremony was arranged by my best friend’s father Mr. Rahman, a big businessman who is known as merchant Rahman. This kind of occasion normally we do not see anywhere. His thinking was ‘I have only one daughter, so everyone will know that Rahman’s daughter’s marriage ceremony is going on. It is not so easy matter as easy for general people.’

This wedding ceremony was arranged in autumn, so the sky was so clear that we saw full of stars which were twinkling and blinking, and the moon was shining. It was seemed to me that this night was the best night among the thousands of nights. Such a night my best friend’s wedding was organized, and I attended that wedding ceremony with all of my best friends.

Since we like one another from our childhood, I knew everything about my best friend’s marriage ceremony, oh sorry, no best friends, I think, now is the time to say her name. Her name is Ritu which means season. There are a lot of memories with her, which will not be finished in a day. I do not want to mention this, only mention here wedding ceremony’s event.

Our parents I mean both families were good friends, due to a business matter, they became enemies one another. Although, we were good friends and we believed to get married in future life. As we studied at the same primary school, high school, college, and at last same university, nothing was impossible to us. As a result, it was unfeasible to marry Ritu in a normal way. She was so logical, and intelligent. So she also realized that nothing was achievable in a natural path. Both families knew that Ritu and I were good friends, but they did not know about our love and affair. As a result, they did not think about us at all. Before that day, we went outing for planning about our next steps, and both used to go shopping, and we bought everything like saris, ornaments, punjabi, wrist watch, rings, etc for wedding ceremony. We invited everyone for attending wedding ceremony. We knew that every person in our culture marries only once. So, we needed a well plan, and we also did that accurately.

It was 29th September, Friday. Everything was okay for Ritu’s wedding ceremony. That day I did not go to Ritu’s home, I mean I was absent. Ritu’s father Rahman uncle called me, “Where are you and why are you not coming, my son. Many works are depending on you.”

But I told him, “I am busy with one of my neighbors due to his illness and he has no son.” Uncle replied me, “Okay son, but you must come in time.” “Okay”, I replied.

Actually, I needed some preparation for preparing everything and all of our friends with me. We decided how we sort out our plan that day and at last we had to prepare to go my best friend’s wedding ceremony.

However, wedding ceremony was organized in Anurag Community Center at Skaton. We started to Anurag Community Center at 10 pm when everyone was busy with their dinner. Mr. Rahman arranged a big party. So the community center was full of people like rich, poor, men, women, children, old, young, and so on. We reached there at 10.30 and my face was covered with a screen. The bridegroom who was selected by Ritu’s father was to come at 12 o’clock. So, no one could think who came here. My all friends always rounded me so that no one could come to me for seeing. Even though, marriage register could not see me. So, everything had to success what we wanted to do, and I did not mention here elaborately what happened next.

To sum up, after finishing our wedding ceremony, we came to our home quickly. Afterwards, many unavoidable incidents were happened by both family which I can not discuss here, but we were stable in our love and affections. In spite of all undesirable dramas, we are still leading happy life.
