Bicycle Thief (Narrative Essay)
The term bicycle means two-wheeler which is paddled by human being. It is essential for us to go to short distance where is not possible to reach on foot or not likely to by any transport, or save money, or to reach there in short time to use bicycle. Bicycle is safer transport than other transports like motorbike, rickshaw, motor car, bus etc. In the student life, it is more essential for going to school, college or university. When I was a student of class six, I had also a bicycle which was given me by my grandmother, but I have a saddest story about my bicycle.
The residence of my grandmother was Sonapur under the district of Rajbari and our residence is Baromollika. One day I went to my grandmother’s residence before my final examination of class five with my mother. Mother told my grandmother, “Nazrul does not read regularly. If he reads regularly, he will be stood first in the examination.”
After hearing this, my grandmother gave some advice and told me, “If you can stand first in the examination of class five, I will give you to buy a bicycle.”
“I will stand first in the final examination.” I committed with her.
After completing my final examination, when my result was published, I saw that I had stood first in the examination. Afterward, I went to my grandmother’s house with my mother and told her, “I have stood first, so give me my bicycle.”
Then she was bought a bicycle by my eldest uncle and I got my bicycle.
I got admission at Majbari High School, Sonapur and I used to go there by my bicycle. Up to class nine, it was going on regularly. But when I was in class ten, an incident was happened. One day my closest friend Rafiq lent my bicycle. He told me, “Friend, give me your bicycle only for one day. I would like to go my sister’s house. I will go and come back soon.”
I could not tell him, “No.”
So, I gave him my bicycle. He took my bicycle, but my mind felt, I committed something wrong. I did not do well.
After giving him my bicycle, I had nothing to do. I felt, “I am very alone, and only alone. I have no relatives, I have nobody.” Because whenever I got some time, I used to take care of my bicycle. But after lending bicycle, I had more spare time that I could not utilize as well. For this reason, I felt boring.
After getting my bicycle, Rafiq did not communicate with me about five days. Whenever I went to his home, he did not stay at home. He did not go to school. I used to think, “Where shall I get him?” But nowhere had I found him. After passing one week, one day he came to my house without any bicycle. He told me, “I lost your bicycle, friend.” Hearing this, I became senseless. I did not understand what happened that two or three hours. Getting my sense, I told him, “Where did you lose my bicycle?”
He told me, “My sister’s house, Baharpur.” I went there many times with him, but I did not get back my bicycle.
I searched my bicycle not only Baharpur but also Padomdi, Sreeramkandi, Baradanga, and other places. But I did not get my favourite bicycle. I loved my bicycle very much even though my own life and I lost this. I could not believe this many days, many months. After one year, when I studied at Rajbari Government College, one day I saw my bicycle. I did not mistake to find out it. One of my college friends was the owner of my bicycle. I asked him, “Where have you got this bicycle? Did you buy it new?”
He told me, “No, I have bought it from Rafiq whose village is Baromollika.” I understood everything, but I could not say anything him. Rafiq is still my best friend. Only one word I pronounced in my mind, “Do not give anything to anybody what is your most favorite.”
